Gatlinburg Parking Information
Parking in Gatlinburg can sometimes be a challenge. On the other hand, if you know where to look, finding a parking place downtown may be easier than you think.
First of all, you may want to check out the free parking spaces that are located next to the river along River Road which runs from the Ripley's Aquarium to the National Park entrance. If you do not find a space on your first pass you should circle back and try again. Typically spaces open up pretty often.
If you can't wait and don't mind paying, there are two city owned parking garages, one behind Ripley's Aquarium and one at Traffic Light #3. There are also several privately owned parking lots on Historic Nature Trail Rd. which begins at Traffic Light #8. These lots primarily offer all day parking for a flat fee, around six dollars, which is a good value if you are going to spend the day downtown.
Another great way to park and avoid a lot of walking is by using the Gatlinburg Trolley System. Park for FREE at the Gatlinburg Welcome Center on the Spur which is one mile north of the Gatlinburg entrance on Hwy-441. Or you can park FREE at the Park and Ride area between Gatlinburg City Hall and the US Post Office at Traffic Light #2B on Hwy-321 (East Parkway) and take the Gatlinburg Trolleys for a low fee. Be sure to know the hours of operation so that they do not stop running while you are still downtown.
Another alternative if you are shopping or dining at the Calhoun's Shopping Village is to park for FREE in the Calhoun's parking at the back of the village. It is located at 1004 Parkway in the heart of Gatlinburg near the main entrance to the National Park.
